WMV Cut & Split

Certain videos can be too large to be stored on a removable drive. If you don't want to reduce their quality by converting them, you should try cutting them and storing the pieces on multiple drives. WMV Cut & Split can be used to cut Windows Med Video (WMV) files fast and easy. You can extract one or more segments from the same video and save them on your hard drive in a single run. The best part is that it takes about a minute to complete the entire procedure.

The software is free to try for 7 days. You will not encounter any restricted functions during this period, so you can evaluate the product properly. It works on Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7 and it is not too demanding, in terms of hardware requirements. Before you run the application, you have to make sure that you have Windows Media player 10 or later on your computer.

The user interface is designed like a simple video player, with basic functions. Besides playing the loaded video, you can fast forward, play the video in reverse and jump to the next or previous frame, to make precise cuts. You may cut the video, at the current frame, just by clicking a button, located next to the playback controls.

You don't have to use separate options to mark a segment's start and end points. You just need to click the same button, to split the video at one or more points. The software will automatically extract all the segments between cutting points or between a cutting point and the video's end.

The extracted segments are listed as thumbnails, on the left side of the interface. You may click a few buttons, on the thumbnails, to include or exclude them from the exporting process or to remove them. Selecting the Save option will expand the segments list over the entire interface, to reveal a series of output options. You may click the same buttons to include or exclude individual segments, but you can also rename them. If everything is in order, you just need to click a button and the application will save the segments in the same folder as the input file. Alternatively, you can select a different option, to save the marked or unmarked segments in the original video file.
